Deadline is fast approaching
I have 43 paintings done and 60 days left in the challenge. I really need to make an effort to paint at least one painting a day until New Years Eve. Gotta, gotta, gotta.
Submitted five paintings to the Riverside Art Alliances fund raiser, “Off The Wall.” they say they make 50,000 for the museum each year. That is impressive. So I submitted five of my earlier works, By earlier, I mean last month. I put in 3 “Dwellings” pieces and 2 “Abstracts.”
the are cheap too. If you liked those, you should probably go down and check them out. They are framed and going for $200. Half of that goes to the museum. One of the dwellings is going for $100. That is the deal. If you submit more than three paintings, one of them has to be for $100.
The “Artists Reception” is next week. That will be fun to go to.

Hi Shaun,
I ran into Bro. Manookin at the Riverside Art Museum yesterday and he told me about your reawakening! Fantastic! I love what you are doing and your website looks great. I really like your dwelling paintings. I am really enjoying Laguna College of Art and Design – I am consumed with thoughts on painting all the time and am facing new challenges. I do get an e-mail once a week with exhibition opportunities. I’d be happy to forward it to you if interested. We should get together and paint sometime before it gets too cold!
Serena,
Thank you for your kind words. Are you exhibiting at “Off the Wall?” Will you be going to the artist’s reception? Maybe we will see you there.
I am selling a few “Dwellings” a the sale. Cheap.
I would love to get a copy of the exhibition list from you. Thank you. What are you doing at Laguna College of Art and Design? Sounds interesting.
Take Care, -Shaun
Hi,
I am doing a Master of Fine Arts degree in painting. This term I have a figure painting class. Our teacher is amazing – his work is beautiful. He is really teaching us about painting the essence of the figure – not getting hung up on every little detail you see, ratherr focusing on how the light hits the form, creating warm beautiful skin tones etc. This is more direction than I’ve had before. At the Uof U they set up the model and then left you to it. I also have a course on Modernism and Figuration – reading critical essays and discussing them in the group. It is very interesting and giving me insight into the choices I make about composition etc. Then I spend 50 hours a week as studio time working on a thesis project. I have time for little else, but it is worth it.
I do have work at Off the Wall. I did not make the reception as MaCall had a school awards assembly. Family first!
I have a friend coming up to paint in the mountains today – plein air. I think I will take him to Lake Gregory – you are welcome to join us – threeish…I want a view of the length of the lake so probably will park at the ball park – though there is a view from the main parking lot that interests me as well…
