Do I like doing abstract paintings more? Not really, but they are quick and easy. they take about an hour or two each in the 11 x 14 size. they are fun, and something different from the landscapes. But the landscapes are an abstraction of sorts too.

These two, I included pages from a book. It adds visual interest and fills space. for Abstract #21, I didn’t like it just painted, so I tried a bunch of things, such as introducing drips on purpose. That didn’t work.

I painted over the drips and it just looked ugly. Then I added the paper over a few sections and I kind of like the results.

Abstract #22 "D" repetition - 14" x 11" - Acrylic, watercolor pencil, mixed media and gesso on Masonite - $300

For Abstract #22, I used an “Expressive Drawing” exercise and used one motif, in this case, the letter “D” cut out of paper. I glued the “D”s on the page and then painted around and over them.
