Mr. Blue Sky - 14" x 11" - Acrylic and graphite on Masonite - $250
PAINTINGS COMPLETED TODAY: 3
PAINTINGS COMPLETED TO DATE: 57
Mr. Blue Sky” is a favorite Electric Light Orchestra song. This painting started as a grid on a page. I started playing with the lines and changing them here and there and this house with clouds and an asterisk shaped sun appeared.
I have 43 paintings done and 60 days left in the challenge. I really need to make an effort to paint at least one painting a day until New Years Eve. Gotta, gotta, gotta.
Submitted five paintings to the Riverside Art Alliances fund raiser, “Off The Wall.” they say they make 50,000 for the museum each year. That is impressive. So I submitted five of my earlier works, By earlier, I mean last month. I put in 3 “Dwellings” pieces and 2 “Abstracts.”
the are cheap too. If you liked those, you should probably go down and check them out. They are framed and going for $200. Half of that goes to the museum. One of the dwellings is going for $100. That is the deal. If you submit more than three paintings, one of them has to be for $100.
The “Artists Reception” is next week. That will be fun to go to.

Dwellings Series #6 - 20" x 16" - Acrylic and graphite on Masonite - $350
PAINTINGS COMPLETED TODAY: 2
PAINTINGS COMPLETED TO DATE: 40
I got to paint Original Acrylic Paintings today. This week has been soooo busy! For a guy that is unemployed, that is really saying something. I haven’t had a second to paint.I am starting to get worried about the 100 paintings in 100days. Smaller canvasses were a snap, now I am up to 20″ x 16″ and that takes more time and paint to do Original Acrylic Paintings.
Anyway, today I cleared more space out of the studio because my panels are getting bigger. I need space to store, gesso, paint and store again, so I moved some boxes out. They are in the middle of the landing now and have to go somewhere else, but I can do that later.

Abstract #13 (Ginger) - 20" x 16" - Acrylic and graphite on Masonite - $350
I am returning to some of the earlier paintings I did. I re-did a “Dwellings” piece today in a larger size. It went pretty well. Original Acrylic Paintings are easy to store. I don’t know what oil artists do. Doesn’t it take days for them to dry out?
I also did an abstract that my wife says is one of her absolute favorites. That is saying something because she is very supportive of everything I do. Thanks Babe!

Abstract # 12 - 12” x 16” Acrylic on Masonite - $200
Finally! I closed my eyes, pictured what I expected the picture to end up like based on the expressive drawing (bottom left corner) and started working. I didn’t over work it and came up with this. I am very happy with it. I would like to continue exploring shapes in space.
I like the dwellings series, but I think what I am shooting for is a cross between this one and the dwellings. I have to continue to loosen up and abstract the building shapes so that they end up as “boxes in space.” Roofs make triangles, walls and windows are boxes and rectangles. Hills and plants are organic shapes.

Dwellings #5 - 12” x 16” Acrylic on Masonite - $200
PAINTINGS COMPLETED TODAY: 5
PAINTINGS COMPLETED TO DATE: 23
Worked on the Fine Art Pics today and did a few I really liked. I completed another “dwelling” piece. This one I zoomed in a little more on my source photograph and the buildings ended up a little bigger. I like that. I need enough space to freely move my brush in, so the bigger buildings helps. A bigger canvas would probably help too.
I am going to write my thoughts for the day and then give a little explanation about each piece in a separate post, so I can have an image with it. Multiple images per post gets a little awkward. This will give readers a little more insight into my mind (a scary thought) but on the other hand, it might help – and be entertaining for you!

Dwellings #4 - 14" x 11" Acrylic on canvas board - $150
I worked on another “Dwellings” piece today. I like this one. The houses go up a hill and there are clouds and sky at the top of the picture.
Let’s see… anything different about this one? No. Not really, except that I am getting more comfortable in my skin.

"Dwellings Series #2" - 11" x 14" Acrylic and colored pencil on canvas board - $100
Spent most of the day in the studio. Finished my second painting in the “Dwellings” series. Turned out pretty well.
Tried my hand at abstract painting on another piece and it didn’t turn out great. I need to practice stopping. Things can get out of hand pretty quickly when I have a brush in my paw! I am going to count it though, because I need 6 paintings this week!
